Beta Zeta Alumni Update - Fire At Theta Chi Dear Fellow Alumni:
As you have probably heard by now, The Lodge encountered a bit of a scare on Thursday, October 27 in the form of a fire that was started inside the house, which the Fire Marshall has now declared as arson. We continue to work closely with both the East Lansing Fire and Police Departments to provide any information possible that will lead to the arrest(s) of the person(s) responsible. At this time, we have only been provided a limited amount of information as this is an open case, but the most important thing is that no one was injured and all brothers are fine.
Since this time, the Alumni Corp, undergrads and several alumni volunteers have been working with the proper authorities to assess damage, clean up the house and work with city housing inspectors to insure that The Lodge is safe and secure. Fortunately, the undergrads have been able to move back in and everyone is doing their best as contractors and others work diligently to make repairs and upgrades as quickly and safely as possible.
If there are any alumni who would like more information and/or to lend a helping hand during this time, please do not hesitate to contact me at your earliest convenience. We can certainly use as much help as possible. I would also appreciate it if you would not share this newsletter with anyone outside of the brotherhood. As you can imagine, even though we are not at fault for this incident, this is a sensitive time for us and we want to make sure we are controlling the information that is being released.
Fraternally,
Brad Shires
